Smartphone holders can help scientists in their research

Don’t get amused, yes it is true. You can be the part of scientific research provided if you have Smartphone. Actually your phone can collect so much data than your social networks like twitter, geo-tag photographs, and email. The researchers from around the world are working on an application usually a software oriented one, which can assist Smartphone users to help the scientists in gathering the research data. There are three projects that have been available to make Smartphone holding citizens into data collectors. First of which is gathering geographic and time sensitive data, where researchers feel difficulty in collecting from such large population and also extraordinarily expensive for them. But when combined with a GPS signal and a Wi-Fi or 3G connection, mobile phones can gather data, organize it and send it to a server to be analyzed. These large amounts of cheaply gathered data come at the cost of the control and reliability. The second project is more important as it deals with Global warming by Measuring Air Quality where, the GPS-equipped Bluetooth phones to monitor carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The last project which they included regards with evaluating trends in health conditions such as asthma and obesity by collecting information on how, when and where people exercise.
